Upper Mustang Tiji Festival trek gives you an insight into the old Tibetan culture residing in the realm of the Mustang region. The auspicious festival of Tiji is Celebrated by the local Gurung and Bista communities of Upper Mustang.  Since the 15th century, the three days festival is observed by exchanging love and greetings among the communities, wishing for world peace and no natural destruction.

Various deities are worshipped on the very first day of the festival while the second and third days see the presentation of cultural dances. This typical festival carries the Ancient mythology associated with the belief in the reincarnation of Buddhist Lama Dorji Sunu.

It is believed that Lamaa Dorji Sunu Fought a battle against his demon father that spread epidemics to save the Kingdom of Mustang.  The Tiji festival is also referred to as lunar festival or mid-autumn festival & is held on 31 May To 2nd June.

  • Day 1 : Welcome to Kathmandu

    We are delighted to provide an airport pickup service as an innovative customer offering, so our chauffeur will assist you with baggage & escort you to your Hotel. He will also help you with the check-in. Later in the evening, we will be hosting a welcome dinner

  • Day 2 : Explore Kathmandu

    Pashupatinath, Boudhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath and Patan Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Basantapur Durbar Square

  • Day 3 : Morning flight to Jomsom & Trek to Kagbeni

  • Day 8 - May 31 : First day Observe Tiji Festival

    A vibrant Buddhist celebration with dancing and traditional music.

    The dance begins depicting the triumph of Dorje Jono against an evil which symbolizes the freedom of the people from the plagues and misfortunes.

  • Day 9 - June 1 : Second day Observe Tiji Festival

    Dancers in their elaborate costumes dressed as demons fill up the town square beginning their dance by slashing the air with their swords and also casting spells to the onlookers.

  • Day 10 - June 2 : Third day Observe Tiji Festival

    The third day of Tiji festival concludes the entire ceremony by the ceremonial destruction of the evil.

  • Day 11 : Trek from Lo Manthang to Dhakmar via Lo Gekar

    Walking hours: 6-7

    Difficulty: Moderate/strenuous

    Accommodation: camping

    Topography:  rocky, riverbank paths.

    Highlights: old Ghar Gompa,  rock paintings, Gyakar village, promising views of Himalayas

  • Day 12 : Trek from Dhakmar to Geling

    Today we take an Early morning flight to Pokhara. The comfortable stay & food is amazing in Pokhara

  • Day 16 : Sightseeing In Pokhara

  • Day 17 : Fly to Kathmandu

    An early morning flight will take you to Kathmandu. On reaching Hotel we will be having a farewell dinner together in the evening.
